The Far Cry franchise is climbing from exotic islands to snowy mountaintops for the upcoming sequel Far Cry 4, which is set in the fictional nation of Kyrat in the Himalayas. Ruled over by self-appointed King Pagan Min and held in the grip of a civil war, Kyrat looks like the perfect setting for Far Cry‘s blend of FPS action and open world exploration, with plenty of secrets to be uncovered.
As a follow-up to the flawed but nonetheless outstanding Far Cry 3, there are a great deal of expectations being heaped upon Far Cry 4 that have only been compounded by the developers’ ambitious promises. It’s certainly exciting to see a AAA shooter that breaks out of the grey-brown urban and industrial settings that have become so common in the genre and instead whisks players away to an exotic and colorful location.
Far Cry 3‘s single player campaign took place on two main maps: a North Island and South Island that made up the bulk of the Rook Islands, but it looks like Far Cry 4 will stick to just one large map that covers the entirety of Kyrat. This map was posted by a user on Reddit this week, and gives details of the flora and fauna that players can expect to encounter in each of the regions, as well as showing which faction controls each area and what landmarks players can expect to encounter.

The legend offers a full list of the animals that can be encountered in the game, including the fearsome honey badger, the much-touted elephant and two different species of wolf. The map boasts both outposts and fortresses, the latter of which seem to be more robust versions of outposts that are harder to take down. Radio towers are also making a return, which means more dangerous climbing sequences (made slightly less dangerous by Ajay Ghale’s wingsuit).
It seems likely that players will start out in the Alder Forest biome with the rebel faction and work their way up the mountain to Pagan Min’s royal fortress over the course of the game, encountering enemies like Yuma, the general of the Royal Army and Pagan’s right-hand woman, along the way. Structurally it looks like the game’s narrative could be similar to that of Far Cry 3, and some of the trailers have shown callbacks to the previous game including a mission where Ajay must burn his way through a poppy field using a flamethrower. Fallout 4 slow zombie mod.
All that unexplored terrain definitely looks tempting, but can Far Cry 4 live up to the standard set by Far Cry 3‘s open world?
Far Cry 4 releases on November 18, 2014 for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Far Cry 5 is a massive game full of places to explore, people to shoot, and mountainsides to wingsuit off. Call of duty modern warfare 2 bots in multiplayer. Still, a huge open world that’s fully playable in co-op just wasn’t enough for Ubisoft, so the developer saw fit to also add Far Cry Arcade into the mix.
What is Far Cry Arcade?
Far Cry Arcade is a toolkit that allows players to create their very own Far Cry 5 levels in a robust editing suite. Not only can you use all of the assets from the game, but the editor also contains items from other Ubisoft games such as Watch Dogs 2 and Assassin’s Creed Origins. You can use the tool to create deathmatch maps, co-op missions, and even single-player quests.
Far Cry Arcade best maps
The game hasn’t been out long, but the community has already dived in, creating a bunch of inventive, original maps, as well as homages to other games entirely. Here are some of the best so far.

Upside Down is an exploration map within Far Cry Arcade. It contains no proper NPCs, just the odd animal, some mannequins, and a sense of unease. In it, you navigate through some dreamscape filled with clocks, working your way around a house that doesn’t obey the laws of physics. Have a watch of the video above.
Far Cry Arcade Nuketown
Someone created popular Call of Duty map Nuketown within Far Cry Arcade. In it, you have to clear the map of 11 NPC enemies. Watch the video above, in which the person chooses the ‘Assault’ loadout before creeping around like a coward.
Far Cry Arcade Noshahr Canals
If COD isn’t your thing, this recreation of Battlefield 3’s Noshahr Canals map might scratch your itch. In the video above, you can have a watch of a proper team deathmatch taking place on the custom-built battlegrounds.
Far Cry Arcade Resident Evil 7
There’s no gameplay here, but it’s one of the best recreations of another game I’ve seen so far in Far Cry Arcade. You can’t go inside, but someone remade Resident Evil 7’s opening, the slow walk towards the Baker House, with Far Cry 5’s map making tools. Have a watch of it above.
Far Cry Arcade PUBG
It’s early days, so some of the creations in Far Cry Arcade aren’t the best. This map shows you a teaser of what will inevitably happen very soon, however: someone will create a great clone of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds in it. For a taste of what that will be like, see the map above.
We’ll update this list when more worthy candidates release. Link us up in the comments if you see any.Still haven’t picked it up? Read our Far Cry 5 review.
